چکیده

The experiment for cryogenic large-aperture intensity mapping (EXCLAIM) is a balloon-borne telescope designed to survey star formation in windows from the present z = 3.5. During this time, rate of dropped dramatically, while dark matter continued cluster. EXCLAIM maps redshifted emission singly ionized carbon lines and monoxide using mapping, which permits blind complete emitting gas through statistics cumulative brightness fluctuations. achieves high sensitivity coupled six integrated spectrometers employing kinetic inductance detectors covering 420 540 GHz with spectral resolving power R 512 angular resolution ?4 arc min. allow access spectrum upper atmosphere. will 305 deg2 Sloan Digital Sky Survey Stripe 82 field conventional balloon flight 2023. also map several galactic fields study neutral as tracers molecular gas. We summarize design phase mission.

A cryogenic rotation stage with a large clear aperture for the half-wave plates in the Spider instrument.

We describe the cryogenic half-wave plate rotation mechanisms built for and used in Spider, a polarization-sensitive balloon-borne telescope array that observed the cosmic microwave background at 95 GHz and 150 GHz during a stratospheric balloon flight from Antarctica in January 2015. The mechanisms operate at liquid helium temperature in flight. A three-point contact design keeps the mechanica...

Experiment Design for Large Multi-Robot Systems

Multi-robot systems present unique challenges for the experimenter. There are three key components for conducting successful multi-robot experiments: 1) Defining platformindependent metrics for evaluating algorithm performance, 2) determining the ground truth of the robot’s physical configuration and network connectivity, and 3) designing a usable system, with centralized data collection and ha...

Large-Aperture Mirror Array (LAMA) - conceptual design for a distributed-aperture 42-meter telescope

We propose a high-density coherent array of eighteen 10-meter liquid-mirror telescopes. Each telescope is equipped with a reflective corrector system that enables it to point and track within an eight-degree diameter accessible field of view centered on the zenith. Equipped with adaptive optics, each telescope will deliver a diffraction-limited beam to a common focal plane. There, a dichroic op...

Cryogenic considerations for superconducting magnet design for the material plasma exposure experiment

In order to determine long term performance of plasma facing components such as diverters and first walls for fusion devices, next generation plasma generators are needed. A Material Plasma Exposure eXperiment (MPEX) has been proposed to address this need through the generation of plasmas in front of the target with electron temperatures of 1-15 eV and electron densities of 10 to 10 m. Heat flu...
